A man identified as Jamal Watts, 33, of Belmont, was shot and killed in a brazen daylight attack on the football field near the St. James Infirmary on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 10:30 AM while Watts, known by the nickname “Jammy,” was cutting the lawn on the field.
According to eyewitnesses, the occupants of a silver Hyundai Elantra approached Watts and fired several shots before fleeing the scene. Watts was rushed to the nearby St. James Infirmary, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The area has been cordoned off as investigators from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) continue to gather evidence. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made.
